Laser Therapy: A Treatment for Nerve Pain and Long Standing Issues

Think of your first trip in an airplane: The roar of the jet engines, your body being pushed against the seat as the plane took off. It takes alot of energy to get a plane off the ground. Once the plane is in the air, it doesn't take nearly as much energy to keep it in flight, soaring above the clouds.

In much the same way, low level light therapy provides the energy to get stalled out physical issues moving again. We've had several cases where patients continued to feel improvement for months after their treatment sessions were through. The cells of the body had been provided with the energy they needed to kick start the healing process.

There are several cases where laser seems to be very effective:

- Nerve Pain

By the time subluxation and global tension have affected the body enough to create pressure on the nerves, we know that the situation has gotten well out of control. Laser therapy provides the energy to let these stressed and compressed nerves heal.

- Persistent Issues

Chiropractic care allows the body to return to a state of healing through proper nervous system function, but even chiropractic care has limitations. Dis-ease can progress to a state where the body finds itself unable to heal an issue with the resources at hand. Laser therapy can provide the energy to move healing forward.

Dr. Jeremy has chosen to use MultiRadiance laser because of his own experience with this brand. Here are some of the commonly asked questions about low level light therapy:

What is Multi Radiance Laser Technology?

Multi Radiance Laser technology is the most advanced and highly effective non-invasive pain relief method cleared by the FDA. This proprietary technology incorporates the Super Pulsed laser, red and infrared light, and a magnetic field to temporarily alleviate pain and enhance blood circulation.

When can I expect to see results?

Most patients feel the beneficial effects of the therapy after 3-5 sessions, though it varies depending on factors like the condition being treated, the length of time the condition has existed, and the age and health of the patient. Some patients feel relief after the first session, while others feel it after a few weeks. Patients have returned for more treatment after their body continued healing even after their sessions were done.

Does laser therapy hurt?

No. Laser therapy has no known adverse effects and is usually not felt, though some patients feel a slight warm sensation. It can stimulate an inflammatory response as part of the healing process, but the treatment itself is never painful.

How is the treatment done?

The laser therapy is done over bare skin, so that it can penetrate as deeply as needed. Sometimes the therapy is held over one point for several minutes, or the goal may be to stimulate a nerve tract or muscle by sweeping across an area. Sessions usually last about 9 to 12 minutes. More laser is not better than less, it depends on the purpose of the treatment.

How does it work?

There is a narrow therapeutic window between 600 and 1200 nanometers, where tissues is able to absorb light photons through molecules called chromaphores. Our laser device uses 660, 875, and 905 nanometer wavelengths to enhance the absorption and penetration of light energy. The combination of these three along with a magnetic field is at the leading edge of low light laser therapy.

Are there any instances where laser therapy should not be used?

Pregnancy, using the laser near a pacemaker, and having an active cancer diagnosis are all contraindications for laser therapy.
